Probation officer found murdered
UP TO late yesterday evening, Southern Division Homicide Bureau detectives were on the scene of what they believe to be the country’s latest murder, after the body of a 24-year-old female probation officer was found in a pool of blood at her Cedros home. According to police sources, Crystal Lackpatsingh was found dead by a relative, lying in a pool of blood in the living-room of her Limefield Road, Cedros home around 4 pm. Lackpatsingh was last based at the Point Fortin Magistrates’ court.
Police sources told Newsday that Lackpatsingh was believed to be home alone when she was killed. Her relative contacted the police after making the gruesome discovery. After the body was viewed by the District Medical Officer (DMO), it was ordered removed to the San Fernando Mortuary. An autopsy is expected to be carried out today on the victim’s body at the Forensic Science Centre. Up to late yesterday evening, Homicide Bureau officers as well as police from Pt Fortin and Cedros were still at the scene searching for clues into the killing. Police could find no apparent motive for Lackpatsingh’s murder. Investigations are continuing.
