More problems brewing with CWU and TSTT
THE Communication Workers’ Union (CWU) and TSTT are once again at loggerheads, this time over a planned meeting to deal with the issue of management structure in a new collective agreement for junior staff. The union said it was awaiting an invitation for the meeting from Sam Martin, TSTT’s chief executive officer. CWU secretary-general Lyle Townsend said he received an e-mail from Oliver Flax, a TSTT Board member, claiming that the union “had accepted our invitation to meet with us.” Townsend said in a letter to Martin: “I do not know from where Oliver Flax got that information, since the CEO never officially extended an invitation to the union. We remain available to meet on an invitation from the company when it comes.” Townsend also expressed concern that one Diana De Souza had joined the ranks of TSTT at management level without the position being advertised. “Yet Martin speaks about working collaboratively in the interest of the future of TSTT,” he observed.
