Bank supports UWI ventures

REPUBLIC BANK’S UWI branch recently presented $5,000 each to the UWI Guild of Students 2003/2004 and the Faculty of Engineering. The Student Guild is currently hosting its sixth annual “Caribbean/International Week” under the theme, “All ah we is one family.” The week showcases the cultures of people from the Caribbean, UK, USA, Nigeria, Botswana and features cultural displays, food sampling and Mr and Miss Universe — Caribe style.

The Faculty of Engineering received its contribution for its 17th annual technical conference, “Asset Management and Maintenance Engineering.” The objective of the conference is to highlight the importance of managing assets successfully to ensure corporate revitalisation and growth in a competitive global manufacturing environment. Republic Bank has supported and continues to support the university through an annual contribution of $66,660 to the UWI Development and Endowment Fund for the Institute of Business (IOB), the annual World of Work programmes and numerous awards. Earlier this year, the bank also contributed $350,000 toward construction of the multipurpose sporting facility, and, in October 2003, committed $2 million toward the construction of the new UWI/IOB library, as part of its “Power to Make a Difference” Programme.
