Handyman dies after fall in panyard

Results of the autopsy performed on the body of handyman, Lenny Fernando, who slipped and hit his head on a steel bar at the Sforzata Steel Orchestra panyard in Curepe on Carnival Sunday evening, have ruled his death as accidental. According to reports, Fernando, 54, who lived on the compound of the steelband while working as security and handyman, slipped, hit his head and slumped into unconsciousness.

He remained this way for a while before anyone found him. Sometime later, band members arrived to make preparations for Jouvert morning celebrations and found Fernando’s limp body. He was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he later died. The autopsy, performed by Dr Hughvon des Vignes, yesterday ruled that death was caused as a result of injuries caused by an accidental fall.
