Castillo is DHL English Speaking Caribbean Manager

She will continue to hold this role and Trinidad and Tobago will now become part of the British Caribbean District which also includes the Bahamas, Bermuda, Grand Cayman, Barbados and Tortola.

Castillo joined the company in 1999 as West and Central Area Manager in Venezuela. She held different managerial positions in Venezuela, the Caribbean and South America including Head of Agent Countries (2005), Barbados Country Manager (2006), Chile Operations Manager and West Cluster Commercial Manager (2009-2010).

She was Country Manager for Trinidad and Tobago in 2008. She returned to the post in 2010.

“Castillo has developed an outstanding career within the company. Her vast experience in the Caribbean, in commercial, in general management and her proven track record make her a great asset for this role,” said Jaime Hooker, Managing Director for the Caribbean and Central America.

Trinidad and Tobago represents an important market for DHL and Castillo has played an integral role in the development of DHL’s business in TT.

The local business employs 54 people and has one of the largest centres in the region. The business copped the “Most Improved Country of the Year” in 2007 and has earned double-digit growth for the past two years.

During that time DHL has focused on meeting the needs of the local industry through a number of initiatives including products targeted at small and medium businesses. “We are confident that Mayra will transpose this leadership and development to her new territories” added Hooker.

DHL is also committed to its corporate social responsibility programme which it delivers worldwide through three pillars: GoGreen, GoTeach and GoHelp.

The company uses these initiatives to support programmes that protect the environment, promote education and help those in need.

In TT, that focus has included a partnership with the Just Because Foundation, a non-profit organisation which offers support for paediatric cancer patients. “DHL’s staff is driven to help many organisations throughout the Caribbean through initiatives similar to this organisation” Castillo said.
