Gunmen crash two cars

ONE man was held, while two escaped following a high speed chase involving two cars which crashed. The drama began in front the Grand Bazaar, Uriah Butler Highway and ended at the Beetham Estate, Laventille. According to police reports around 11.30 am yesterday members of the Highway Patrol pulled alongside a car in front of the Grand Bazaar when its occupants started shooting at them. A high speed chase ensued resulting in the men crashing the car at Bamboo Village. The two occupants quickly fled to another car which they took at gun point.

The man held is from Mt Hope Extension Road, Champs Fleurs. He was in possession of  a magazine with 9 rounds of ammunition and a 9 mm revolver with five live rounds. The second car pursued by the officers also crashed close to a basketball court at Goose Lane, Aranguez where it was abandoned by its occupants who stole another car at gunpoint and escaped in Beetham Gardens. At press time police were continuing their search, while the arrested man was being interrogated at the St Joseph police station. Involved in the exercise headed by Insp Modeste, were Sgt Moona, Cpl Hobbes, PCs Ramjattan and Remy, members of the Fraud Squad, the Northern and Northeastern Task force.
