Police link woman to murder of Moruga man
EMERGENCY Health Services (EHS) supervisor Mark Charles was murdered — shot in the head execution style and his body dumped — some 13 months after he was dragged from his bed and shot twice. A week prior to the first shooting, an attempt was made to burn down his apartment at Pleasantville Terrace in Pleasantville.
Southern Division Homicide detectives believe the first shooting incident, the attempted arson and the eventual murder of Charles was linked to a relationship with a woman, but no arrests have been made up to yesterday. Police also believe the persons who shot Charles last year and tried to burn down his home, were behind his murder. Charles’ body was discovered in bushes, hands and feet tied and mouth gagged last Friday morning in Cachipe Village, Moruga. He had gunshot wounds to the head.
According to police, Charles, 42, of Caledonia Road in Laventille, was last seen alive around 10 pm the night before his body was found. The deceased had a brush with the law several years ago, police said, but court matters were dismissed. Charles’ wife and children live abroad. Moruga police and Southern Division Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.
