Pt Fortin Chamber expresses ‘extreme anger’ over fire

The Point Fortin Chamber of Industry and Commerce has expressed “extreme anger” at the fiery destruction of Royal Castle and South Zone pharmacy in Point Fortin on Sunday morning. According to Leonard Bradshaw, President of the Chamber, “the issue of the inadequate water supply to Point Fortin has been the subject of intense discussion between the Chamber and Ministry of Public Utilities, WASA, Petrotrin, and the Point Fortin Borough Corporation.”

Bradshaw went on to state that the Chamber had written to the Minister of Public Utilities not only expressing concern but offering “detailed suggestions” which included the Point Fortin hydrant system being isolated from the WASA main to being connected to the Petrotrin system. The Chamber has also criticised the Office of the Mayor which it says has responded in a lukewarm manner to the request for a meeting on the issue. The Chamber is calling for a more proactive approach and invited members and non members alike to a meeting on Thursday at 10 am at the Chamber’s offices to contribute to the formulation of an appropriate action plan.
