Stolen toilet paper recovered

TWO businessmen and a salesman will this morning appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate charged with receiving a container of stolen toilet paper valued $25,000. The accused — a Port-of-Spain grocery proprietor, 54; an El Socorro wholesale grocery proprietor, 45; and a Barataria salesman, 35, were held in separate exercises between Wednesday and yesterday. According to reports, Roger Lee Pack owner of House of  Paper Ltd in El Socorro, parked the container with 500 cases of toilet paper on May 28 and returned on June 2, to find the container empty.

A report was made to the Barataria police station and a salesman was held after investigations. This led to the search of the El Socorro wholesaler’s buinessplace on Wednesday evening, where some of the toilet paper was recovered. Yesterday, a larger quantity of the stolen toilet paper was found at the Port-of-Spain businessman’s property. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of two other men on charges of larceny. One is an employee of the factory where the toilet paper was stored. Visiting the scene were Snr Supt Bishop, Sgt David Abraham, Cpl Edgar Vidale, Ag Cpl Jones and PCs Ramsumair and Holman.
