5 new executives now head UTC

The Unit Trust Corporation yesterday announced five executive appointments, including that of Michael Alexander as executive director of the organisation. Alexander, who has been acting in the position of executive director since the retirement of Clarry Benn in February this year, becomes the fourth person to hold the position since the inception of the company in November 1982. A former student of Queen’s Royal College, Alexander joined the UTC from inception and served with past executives Jerry Hospedales, the Corporation’s first executive director, and Clarry Benn. Alexander, holds a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from the City University of New York, majoring in finance and investments. He began his career at Barclays Bank International in New York, before returning to Trinidad to join the National Commercial Bank in 1978.


He worked with the NCB for four years before joining the UTC in 1982 as one of its founding members. He has served on the Board of Trinidad Cement Ltd and is a member of the Board of Directors. He also holds the position of president of Chaconia Fund Services. In addition, he is actively involved in his community and is a member of QRC’s Old Boys Association and the Harvard Club. Other executive appointments include vice president marketing and international business, Gayle Daniel-Worrell, vice president of asset management, Eutrice Carrington, vice president of merchant banking, David Thompson. Marilyn Clarke Andrews was appointed chief financial officer.
