Cops seize drugs, arrest 10 in city raids

A quantity of cocaine and stolen items were seized and ten persons arrested during a massive exercise carried out by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force yesterday. The exercise started at 2 pm and ended at 6 pm. The raids, which were led by acting Snr Supt Errol Denoon and Insp Sahadeo Singh, were carried out at Duncan and Nelson Streets and Sea Lots. At Duncan Street, several apartments were searched for drugs, arms and ammunition. Several areas on Nelson Street were cordoned off, as officers carried out the raids. Some residents protested the police action, declaring some of the searches illegal. At Duncan Street, some police officers were seen climbing through a window of an apartment to gain entrance. Officers claimed they were acting on information received. At Sea Lots, a number of homes were searched and a quantity of stolen items recovered. Officers also carried out body searches.
