PNM: Discrimination in UNC territory

THE PNM said it has launched an investigation into reports that its local government representatives and supporters are being victimised in areas which are controlled by UNC-dominated local government corporations. PNM vice-chairman John Donaldson told yesterday’s post-PNM General Council meeting at Balisier House, that the party had been flooded with such “difficult and heart-rending” reports. He said the reports were particularly grim in the PNM-held Quinam/Morne Diablo district in the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation.  Donaldson said the area representative Diptee Ramnath has told the party about no jobs or projects being carried out in the district and the matter has been reported to Local Government Minister Rennie Dumas.
