Manning, Panday meet today on Police Reform Bills
Prime Minister Patrick Manning and Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday meet at the PM’s official residence at 11 o’clock this morning in the hope of reaching an agreement on the Police Reform Bills. Manning will be accompanied by Attorney General John Jeremie and also Planning Minister Camille Robinson-Regis, who (along with Manning) represented the PNM on the bipartisan political committee which was the driving force behind the legislation. Panday will be accompanied by MPs Gerald Yetming and Ganga Singh. Panday said on Friday that he planned to go to this meeting with suggestions because he wanted “to save the legislation.” Debate on the Bills, which require a two-thirds majority, starts on Tuesday morning in the House of Representatives.
