Body found in Delaford
TOBAGO POLICE suspect foul play in the death of an unidentified man whose badly decomposed body was found in Delaford yesterday morning. The body is that of a man of African descent estimated to be in his early 40s, clad only in black shorts with white stripes. A group of residents discovered the body behind a bridge opposite the Delaford Community Centre around 9 am and immediately alerted the police. Officers led by Snr Supt Watson visited the scene and the body was viewed by DMO Dr Maxwell Adeyemi, who said based on the state of decomposition, the victim had been dead for at least three days.
Doctor Adeyemi said the right leg and left arm appeared to be deformed and there were several scratches and bruises on the left wrist and elbow. Investigating officers said they suspect foul play as traces of blood were found on pieces of cardboard near the body. The police are working on the theory that the victim was beaten and thrown behind the bridge. They said the only other possible lead is that the man may have fallen over the bridge but based on the number of injuries sustained, this was unlikely.
