Panday: Constitutional reform only hope

UNC LEADER Basdeo Panday yesterday called on the Government and Opposition to discuss constitutional reform in Trinidad and Tobago because this was the only way to solve all of the nation’s problems — including crime. Speaking to Newsday hours after the Police Reform Bills were defeated in the House of Representatives, Panday said what ought to happen now were serious talks between the Government and Opposition about constitutional reform. He explained that once this issue is addressed, there would be no need to reintroduce the Bills in Parliament as they will form part of the overall constitutional reform process.
