Clean up your crime-prone community
A PROMINENT businessman has appealed to the 92 SEA graduates from Enterprise Government School in Chaguanas “to try as much as possible to lift the image” of their community which is regarded as one of the most crime-prone areas in the country. Jerome Sant, who delivered the feature address at the graduation, noted that the No 1 position with respect to crime in TT was held by Laventille, followed by Gun Hill in Point Fortin, with Enterprise in third position. “This could be damaging to the area if allowed to get more out of control,” he warned.
“You as young people coming into the world can mount a campaign and do your very best to help in cleaning up the village to make it safe for the residents once more,” Sant said. Sant, a former president of Enterprise Kiwanis, told the students they needed to be “mentally and intellectually prepared” to achieve the objectives they set for themselves so that “with the divine help of the Master above, success will come your way.” Newly appointed principal of the school, Victor Ramroop, used the occasion to unveil his plans which include projects geared toward improvement in reading, discipline and further progress in the sports.
He said there were plans for a new school to be built for the district, with work to begin during the August vacation. Subhan Jahoor, schools supervisor I of Caroni Education Division, congratulated the school for their achievments over the years and was pleased to note that in last year’s SEA examination, one pupil, Brent Boodhai, placed 18th nationwide. He is now a student of Presentation College, Chagu-anas.
