Two in hospital after PBR smash-up
TWO persons were rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital after a head-on crash on the Priority Bus Route yesterday. According to reports, a green Mazda 323 station wagon driven by Customs and Excise Officer Ian Davis, 55, of Auzonville Road in Tunapuna, was travelling east in the vicinity of the Fernandes Compound, when he collided with a car driven by Maynard Lennard, 85, of Newbury Hill, Glencoe. Lennard had attempted to cross the bus route from the Fernandes Compound from south to north when the collision took place, causing both cars to spin out of control. The station wagon driven by Davis stopped after it crashed into a wall on the northern side of the PBR, while the car driven by Lennard stopped precariously on the edge of an embankment overlooking a drain which divides the bus route from the southern side of Fernandes compound. Both men are said to be in a stable condition, but police are concerned about Lennard’s condition.
