2 charged with robbing magistrate’s wife
TWO men appeared before Arima Magistrate Debra Quintyne on Monday charged with robbing Denise Waldrop, wife of another Arima court magistrate, Reynold Waldrop. The men, Mark Ramsawak, 32, of Fairley Street, Tunapuna and Marlon Moore, 28, were both refused bail and will reappear in court today. According to reports, Mrs Waldrop had stopped outside Bhaggan’s Drug Store on Broadway, Arima, at around midnight on Friday to buy medication for her granddaughter.
While coming out of the car, she was confronted by two men. One grabbed the money from her hand while the other tried to drive off with the car. The car, however, was equipped with a special anti-theft device and they were unable to start the car. While the bandits were trying to start the car, the police responded to a call and a chase ensued. The men were held a short distance away on Cocorite Road. They were charged with robbing the magistrate’s wife of $48. Constable Gosine laid the charge.
