Diego Martin teen chopped to death

DUNCAN PRINCE, 17, a former student of the Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive School, bled to death at his Trumpet Lane home in Diego Martin yesterday. His murder is the 138th for the year and the 33rd in the Western Division. Reports revealed that Prince was asleep at his home when he was attacked by a man armed with a cutlass  around 8.15 am. The man chopped Prince on his face, neck, left shoulder and left arm.

Prince managed to crawl out of bed and alert neighbours, who contacted the Fire Services. An ambulance was sent to the house. Prince, who was bleeding profusely, was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. A party of officers led by Supt Shah Mohammed and ASP Cumberbatch, with acting Insp Smith and Cpl Harvey Husbands went to the scene. Several persons were interviewed and they gave descriptions of the killer. Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 30-year-old man. When Newsday visited the crime scene, neighbours claimed that a female relative of Prince recently fled the house after she was beaten and threatened.
