Meet Justice Gillian Lucky
Archie warmly welcomed and congratulated Lucky on her accomplishment as the country’s newest Puisne Judge. Lucky was a temporary High Court judge from October 2009 — September 2010 and has held the positions of Senior State Counsel in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions; a Government Senator; Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs, Chairman of the Omnibus Legislation Committee; Committee for the Regularisation of the Home Video Industry;
Member of the Crime and Justice Commission and Opposition Member of Parliament.
Justice Lucky graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies (UWI) and was awarded the Therese Sylvester Prize for the Most Outstanding University Student at the Cave Hill Campus.
She is a Certified Practitioner of Oversight (CPO) issued by the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE) 2013-2016.
She formerly held the position as principal of the Academy of Tertiary Studies (ATS) and Course Director in the law of evidence, lecturer in Business Law at UWI where she assisted in the establishment of distance learning for that programme.
In 2010, the newly appointed Judge was selected as Director of the Police Complaints Authority, a role she held until her assumption at the Judiciary. She is the daughter of retired Justice of Appeal, Justice Anthony Lucky.
