Trade unions condemn attack on Cuban diplomat
THE Federation of Independent Trade Unions and NGOs (FITUN) has condemned the robbery and assault on Cuban Ambassador Felix Raul Rojas at his Bayshore home two Fridays ago, describing the attack as the “dastardly actions of a few criminal elements within our society.”
According to reports, three bandits scaled the wall of Rojas’ Elm Avenue home at Bayshore and, after assaulting him, escaped with a quantity of cash and the Ambassador’s Honda SUV. In a release yesterday, the trade union body expressed “profound regret” over the incident, saying both the government and people of Cuba “demonstrated very tangibly their friendship and solidarity with the people of Trinidad and Tobago.”
