New police strategy nets 12 in Central
TWELVE persons were arrested on Friday for possession of ammunition, robberies and outstanding warrants in central TT using a new strategy developed by a senior officer. The new strategy according to information came out of a recent ‘pep talk’ given to inspectors heading all Divisions, by acting Deputy Commissioner Anti-Crime/Operations Oswyn Allard.
While officers would not divulge the strategy, they did say they were using techniques from the books of the criminals themselves. The exercise, coordinated by Allard, included members of the St Joseph police, the Guard and Emergency branch, the Inter-Agency Task Force and the Central Division Task Force. Also included in the exercise were Insp Kirk (Central/Chaguanas,) Insp Modeste (Northern/St Joseph,) both inspectors of crime, Sgt Persad, Cpl Williams and others. Police seized five rounds of 9 mm and five rounds of .38 ammunition during the exercise. The exercise ran from 1pm to 8pm. The 12 persons, between the ages of 23 and 45, include a woman. They will appear before a Chaguanas magistrate on Monday. Similar exercises are to be carried out all over the country.
