Guard robbed of gun in Barataria

NORTH-EASTERN Division police had mixed results on Tuesday when they recovered a unlicenced firearm and then received a report of another gun stolen. According to reports, Sentinel Security Ltd’s estate constable Forbes was on duty at Penny’s Gas Station at Jumbie Bridge in Barataria around 8.30 pm. A lone gunman walked up, pointed a gun at him, and relieved him of his 9mm pistol and 15 live rounds of ammunition.

Police visited the scene and carried out a search, but came up empty-handed. Two and a half hours earlier, members of the Northern Division Task Force led by Sgt Louison were on patrol at Dusty Trace, El Socorro Extension, when they saw a man known as a “Go For” drop a bag, jump on his bike and ride off. On inspecting the bag, they found a Venezuelan-made 12-gauge shotgun, with no ammunition.
