Phony phone call leads to death
POLICE believe that Chaguanas businessman Sharzard Mohammed, who was shot dead yesterday in Laventille, was set up by someone ostensibly wanting to conduct business with him. Mohammed, 24, of Dinoo Street, Charleville, a cell phone and accessories salesman/businessman was in a car parked on Readymix Road, Success Village. He was awaiting the arrival of a man who had called him on his phone to transact business, when two men walked up to the car, had some small talk with Mohammed and fired one shot, which entered his left arm and through to his chest.The killers then grabbed $6,000 and ran of, according to his friend and driver Ashmead David. David rushed Mohammed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. When Newsday visited the area residents claimed they saw nothing. Cpl Mercer of the Besson Street Police is investigating.
