Supermarket clerk robbed of $52,000

An employee of Ramroop’s Supermarket in Chaguanas was struck with a gun and robbed of a bag containing $52,000. Reports revealed that around 10 am yesterday, Waheeda Gafoor, a secretary at Ramroop’s Supermarket on Yard Street, Chaguanas, was about to enter a car to go to a nearby bank, when she was confronted by a man armed with a gun. The man struck Gafoor on the head and robbed her of a bag containing $52,000. A party of officers led by acting Sgt Ajith Persad, and including detectives Jitendra Toolaram, Glenda Corbette Davis and Roxanne Bishop, went to the scene and searched for the bandit to no avail. Gafoor was treated at the Chaguanas Health Centre and discharged. Investigations are continuing.
