Heavy downpour creates veritable lakes in the city

FOLLOWING a short but heavy down-pour of rains yesterday parts of Wrightson Road, and parts of lower Port-of-Spain quickly became lakes of flood waters. Drivers proceeding along the road between the Licensing Office and Powergen had to proceed with caution, while a few commuters remained stranded. Several other areas, including lower Richmond Street, the corner of Independence south and Edward Street, and other places in the southern section of the city were under water. In some areas, pedestrians were marooned for some time.
