Mon Repos man gunned down

A Mon Repos, Morvant man has become this country’s latest murder victim. According to information around midday yesterday residents of Hillview Drive, Mon Repos heard several gunshots and called the police instead of investigating. A report was made to the Morvant Police Station and when Sgt Hosein, Cpl Ramjit and PC Jacobs visited the area where they found Joel Fredericks, 20, of LP 6 Cocoa Road, Mon Repos lying dead on the ground with two bullet wounds, one to his hip and another to his head. DMO Dr Raman visited the scene and ordered the body removed to the Forensic Science Centre. When Newsday visited the area his traumatised family was not in a position to speak to the media. Police sources told Newsday, while they are still investigating Fredericks, he is known to have  a short crime record. Cpl Vidalle is continuing enquiries.
