Two struck by car on highway
Two pedestrians suffered serious injuries when they were struck by a car near the El Socorro Road walkover. Reports revealed that the car, driven by Neon Rambally, was proceeding west along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway around 9 am, when the two pedestrians attempting to cross from south to north, came into contact with Rambally’s car. Victims were identified as Lisa Ramjattan, 20, of Gilbert Street, Felicity and Melissa McAllister, 21, of Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas. Both women suffered broken right legs.
Up until late yesterday, they were warded at Ward 14 of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Several motorists and residents of the area went to the scene and rendered assistance to the two injured women. Around 9.30 am, an ambulance arrived in pouring rain and took the two injured women to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where they were treated and warded. PC Brereton of the Barataria Police Station is investigating.
