War Maker to seek redemption Friday

Classic, will be looking for redemption, when the Arima Race Club stage their eight-race programme as Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Friday.

The three-year-old offspring of War Marshall/Honey Maker was beaten 5 3/4 lengths into fourth when being a heavy favourite to win the Carib Brewery-sponsored Classic.

Midsummer. Race Day25 has been brought forward 24 hours from Saturday, as on that day Muslims in Trinidad and Tobago celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

Racing secretary Robin Jaisingh has framed a very competitive programme with at least four races likely to be set aside for the popular Hi5 betting.

There are over 17 horses entered in the day’s final event, 14 in the sixth, 11 each in the fourth and fifth and another 11 in the second. Feature race on the day is the seventh for horses rated 80-50 over 1700 metres with 10 entered to challenge War Maker including the consistent Thays and recent winners Soursop, Free Passage and Cat’s Heir. Highly touted Jamaica-bred Relamago is also among the entrants for this race, The action on Friday is timed to be at 1.30 pm.
