WITCO $$ for Indefest
THE EIGHTH Annual Indefest, sponsored by du Maurier, kicks off in St James today, at the corner of Bournes Road and Western Main Road, St James. This event takes the form of a cultural show/street party starting at 6 pm and continuing until midnight. In celebration of Independence 2004, the Indefest line-up includes a formidable array of the best talent the country has to offer. Over 7,000 patrons are expected to join in the evening’s free celebrations with cultural events named Chutney in de Area; Soca in de Bacchanal; Rapso in de Flow, Vibes up de Dance and Vibes up de Culture. Artistes include Adesh Samaroo, Heeralal Rampurtap, Denise Belfon, Roy Cape, Ronnie McIntosh, Brother Resistance, 3Canal, Shiv Shakti Dancers and Maximus Dan, among many others, including Witco Desperadoes.
In honour of the occasion, WITCO has presented a cheque for $10,000 to the St James Community Improvement Council (CIC) as a donation towards improving the community and in support of cultural events. Over the years, du Maurier has been a key sponsor in promoting the culture of Trinidad and Tobago and took the initiative eight years ago to create Indefest as a special Independence celebration for the nation.
