Trinis get ready to ‘Thrive’ in Dubai
Thrive International is the name of a “support platform for unique-minded individuals in the fields of fashion, art, media, entertainment and hospitality”.
After launching in Los Angeles last year, celebrating its second anniversary and launching in Trinidad this year, the ambitious entity has returned to the place that started it all in Dubai and will host a grand event on August 20 at The Fridge venue in the arts and culture district of Dubai, UAE .
Thrive, in association with AMOR (Artists Mobilising Optimistic Revolution) Movement will host “ThriveINDXB” from 5 pm to midnight.
This benefit event for the charity EPIC Fellowship Programme will feature a special performance by Thrive’s co-founder from Trinidad and Tobago, Tennille Amor.
“I started EPIC (Everyday People Initiating Change) nine years ago with my business partner, Alexi Panos,” said Amor.
“We realised that we didn’t need to have huge amounts of success, money or time to do something positive with our lives. We recognised that everyday people are just as capable of initiating change in the world, so we decided to do something about it back then — rather than waiting for the perceived ‘perfect platform’ to make a difference.
“Nine years later, we are fully submerged in the lives of about ten communities in Tanzania, Africa, and have succeeded in providing them with access to clean water, and assisting them in further expansion of community growth and development.” Amor has collaborated with various artistes including; Grammy Award winner, John Legend, Pixie Lott, Shaggy, Mr Vegas, and Bunji Garlin just to name a few and will be performing live for the first time in the Middle East with a backing band.
“On the night of my performance, people should expect to get a taste of Caribbean culture, mixed with the mainstream sounds of commercial pop. My music is lyrically driven, so there is meaning attached to everything I do. Hopefully people will come there and feel inspired to pursue whatever it is that they have on their hearts to achieve in this life. The future is limitless!” she concluded.
Thrive Co-Founder, Ethan Auguste described the objectives of the organisation.
“Our goal is to build relationships, connect, motivate and inspire people. We plan to create platforms to showcase various talents and use our extensive international network to bring them all together as an exchange of culture and business relationships.
We are also very pleased to have The Fridge as a venue partner for our Dubai event and their love for supporting talent and the creative community is commendable.” ThiveINDXB starts promptly at 5pm with SPEAKER BOX a Thrive Master Class — ‘From the garage to the stage‘ and will feature panellists from The Fridge, alongside various music industry professionals.
After a brief opening message and charity presentation at 7 pm, ThriveINDXB will officially begin with the screening of a short TT entitled “City On The Hill” followed by a fashion showcase and live music performances.
Thrivers can also enjoy art on display and illustrations in addition to lots of networking with industry professionals.
