Phones back up in Tobago

Wire-line services, GSM and TDMA mobile services have been restored in Tobago. According to a release from the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT), the wire-line services were restored to two areas in Tobago — Speyside and Charlotteville. Mobile customers and approximately 600 wireline customers experienced a disruption in service  because several telephone and electricity cables were damaged as a result of hurricane Ivan last Tuesday.

TSTT technicians were able to start repairs on the damaged cables after the storm’s passing and restoration work was completed on Friday. Repairs to the TDMA sites were also completed and generators were installed at affected GSM sites in order to restore mobile services, the release stated. TSTT has expressed gratitude to the public for its patience and has also apologised for any inconvenience caused.
