TT woman found dead in Tortola
The body of a woman believed to be that of a Trinidad and Tobago national was found Tuesday at Little Bay Lambert Estate in the Tortola, British Virgin Islands (BVI). BVI police believe the woman, identified as Melissa Spence, 24, was either working in a bar or restaurant on the island. An autopsy today will determine the cause of death. Head of the Port-of-Spain Homicide Bureau, Snr Supt Dyo Mohammed, told Newsday yesterday that he has not yet been contacted by the police in Tortola for assistance in contacting relatives of the dead woman, whose body was found around 11.05 am Tuesday.
Checks with Interpol also revealed that information on Spence’s death had not yet been made available to them. Spence families contacted in Trinidad and Tobago claimed they did not know of a Melissa Spence. Reports revealed the body was found between some rocks on the shore in the Little Bay area. A team of detectives, forensic and marine personnel visited the scene and conducted investigations. The body was viewed by Dr Lawrence and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre. Police in Tortola are calling the death suspicious.
