Wife begs: Please return my Anthony

A Curepe mother is calling on the men who kidnapped her husband 44 days ago to return him to his family, especially his two-year-old son who is anxiously awaiting his arrival. Salima Ali told Newsday that on August 11, her husband Anthony Bachan Mohammed was snatched near his Alice Street home in Curepe by five men, who bundled him into a car. The car was later found abandoned near the University of the West Indies. Shortly after the abduction, a man called a relative of Mohammed and demanded $500,000 for his safe release. The man promised to call back, but was not heard from again. Yesterday marked 44 days since Mohammed was abducted.

On Wednesday, his son Saliym had his second birthday, and had planned to cut his cake with his father, but the family has decided to keep the cake in the fridge until Mohammed comes home. Salima is confident that her husband is alive and she is not giving up hope. She feels he will walk through the yard and come home to her open arms any day now. According to Salima, her son asks for his father every day and refuses to play, eat or smile. She pointed out that her husband was never involved in any criminal activities, and she is calling on the police to help her find her husband. According to Salima, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad visited her at least four times, but they have not returned and she is becoming more frustrated every day. “Please, please, return my husband to me,” pleaded Salima in Curepe yesterday. Officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad told Newsday they are working on several leads in the kidnapping.
