No bail for four on kidnap charge

FOUR Santa Cruz men were denied bail yesterday when they appeared before a senior magistrate in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court, charged with several offences, including kidnapping and false imprisonment. Samson Jones, 22; Christopher Wolffe, 23; Marlon Brown, 22, and David Danclair, also known as Darren Miller, were arrested by police who allegedly stormed a house at Jarvis Street in Vistabella on Tuesday and rescued Keston Edmond, 25, and Marissa Gonzales, 18. The four were not called on to enter pleas for a total of six charges when they appeared before acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes, who presided over the First Court.

The accused were jointly charged with kidnapping Edmond at Library Corner in San Fernando on Sunday September 19, and keeping him against his will. Danclair faced a separate charge of causing grievous bodily harm to Gonzales and using menace and threats to steal $3,000 from her. Wolffe was slapped with an additional charge of beating and common assault against Oliver Paul, owner of the house at Jarvis Street, on  September 14. Jones was also charged with possession of marijuana. Magistrate Ramoo-Haynes advised the four of their right to apply to a judge in Chambers for bail, and adjourned the matter to October 1.
