Shot WPC discharged

WPC Rachel George was treated for injuries to her left foot following the incident. PC Adrian Moreno suffered a graze to the back of the head and a wound to the left arm and remains warded at hospital in a stable condition.

The attending physicians have not recommended surgery at this time.

Officers Moreno and George, of the Western Division, were among a party of officers who went to the Beetham area in search of suspects in relation to a recent break-in at American Stores, St James, and the theft of goods valued at $100,000, when the incident occurred.

An internal investigation will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Both officers were visited at the Port of Spain General Hospital by Head of the Western Division, Snr. Supt. Basdeo Ramdhanie and Supt. Alfonso Patterson.

Acting Commissioner of Police Harold Phillip has offered prayers to the two cops for their full and complete recovery.
