Special Olympians get elite training

The camp, which is part of SOTT’s overall community training programme, has been taking place at the Woodbrook Youth Facility daily from 9am to 3pm.

This programme aims to not only increase the number of athletes and coaches associated with Special Olympics but also to train the athletes in various disciplines which aids highly in their overall development.

Included among the activities are tennis, volleyball, basketball, cricket, gymnastics, arts and crafts and equestrian. The equestrian activity takes place at the Police Mounted Branch from 10am to 12 noon daily.

The sports camp exposes athletes to a higher level of coaching and a different coaching environment with the desire of developing the athletes’ self-confidence as well as positive relationships between athletes and coaches and athletes and their peers.

The camp, which is expected to impact over 100 athletes, continues until tomorrow
