Aligning expectations with your reality
But I always advise women, that the best approach which allows us to navigate through this journey of life with some measure of comfort, is to qu ickly understand and appreciate our realities. Once we have reached to this point, managing our expectations becomes fairly doable.
In previous features, I pointed out that you would not, and cannot be liked by everyone.
Each of us was blessed with different personalities and different aligning your expectations with your reality, which offer different realities.
However, the challenge arises when we allow the opinions of others to shape our reality. One’s reality is usually defined as anything experienced in the present, and the success of these outcomes is determined by the use of appropriate strategies and resources available at that very moment.
Our reality is also created by our thoughts, and therefore, there is always need to be mindful about the type of utterances disclosed.
For example, if you continuously utter “life is hard”, more than likely, the effects emanating from this statement may become your reality? There has always been a grey area between one’s reality and their expectations, hence the importance of creating the best alignment between both. There are many, who live their lives attempting to fulfil their own, as well as the expectations of others, and in the end, it is an exercise in futility.
Linking expectations to reality can be daunting but not impossible.
Start by being creative and innovative in attempting to realise your dreams, as most great achievements evolved from dreams.
Create a strategic vision for your life that includes key goals and objectives, that are aligned to your reality in terms of your available resources and existing circumstances.
Avoid measuring your achievements and success based on the approval of others, as this is a gateway to failure.
Successfully achieving your goals, requires focus and consistency.
Building meaningful relationships with individuals including family members who share in your vision, is another excellent approach to leverage your success.
Today I implore all women who may need a teacup of motivation, to begin empowering themselves, sit comfortably in their reality chair, and take responsibility for effectively managing their expectations.
