Guard held after stolen items recovered

According to reports, on Monday, five Samsung television sets belonging to the NWRHA were reported stolen.

Officers led by ASP Persad and Cpls Anthony Williams, Cpl Kennedy and including PCs Meyers and Lawrence Persad carried out enquiries and detained a security guard from St Barb’s in connection with the larceny.

Officers then executed a search warrant in the Princes Town area and seized three of the five stolen television sets.

The television sets were later identified as those stolen from the NWRHA.

The same team of officers also arrested a 24-year-old man after he was found to be in possession of a Glock pistol and 17 rounds of ammunition.

Eight others were held for a series or robberies carried out in the Port-of-Spain area.

The three-day exercise formed a part of an anti-crime initiative to deal with lawlessnes in the Port-of-Spain area.

On Thursday, officials of the NWRHA were high in praise for the swift action of the police which led to the recovery of three of the stolen television sets.

Those persons detained are expected to be placed on identification parades following which charges are expected to be laid.
