TT men’s hockey team continue unbeaten run
On Friday, TT could only muster a 1-1 draw after a number of spurned chances in front of goal.
Triston Grant was the goalscorer for the home team.
In Saturday’s match, TT regained goalscoring momentum and came away 3-2 winners courtesy goals from in-form youth striker Teague Marcano, Kieron Emmanuel, and team captain Akim Toussaint. In the first match of the four-match series on Thursday, TT defeated Barbados 3-1.
Speaking with Toussaint after the third match he felt there was still a lot of work to be done by the young squad.
“We created a lot of opportunities, two versus one and three versus one breakaway chances but the final pass and finishing let us down.” Toussaint also stated that the younger players needed guidance to improve.
“At times they are receptive to instructions, but there are also times when they get a bit confused as there are too many on field instructions coming from different directions, whereas one or two leaders on the field can help get the coach’s points across.” TT and Barbados were scheduled to play their final friendly match from 6 pm yesterday.
Barbados are using the matches as preparation for the forthcoming FIH World League Round One to be held in Salamanca, Mexico from September 27 - October 2.
