American coaches to conduct Digicel Jumpstart Clinic

Bringing with them a wealth of experience, the coaches are excited to impart their knowledge of the game and encourage and inspire the young participants of the basketball clinic.

As part of the Jumpstart programme, Justice and Pierce will also facilitate training sessions for coaches from the National Basketball Federation of Trinidad and Tobago (NBFTT ) with an aim to further enhance their coaching skills.

Justice has trained over 2,000 coaches and had over 750,000 participants in Reliance Foundation Jr NBA, and has coached at the NBA ‘Basketball without Borders’ annual camps in Asia and Africa.

Pierce, a San Jose native, has 17 years of professional and collegiate experience and spent two seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies as an Assistant Coach-Player Development.

Pierce played four seasons internationally in Mexico, Australia, Germany and Turkey before returning to his alma mater, Santa Clara University as an assistant coach under Dick Davey.

Sixty young men and women will participate in the Digicel Jumpstart Clinic along with the 20 coaches of the NBFTT (National Basketball Federation of Trinidad and Tobago).

Last year’s Digicel Jumpstart programme was extremely successful for Trinidad and Tobago, producing four basketballers who progressed to the New York experience where they were exposed to further training at NBA facilities with various coaches and players.
