President to respond tomorrow
“Very recent additional matters have arisen in the public domain warranting a more comprehensive response from the Office of the President,” said a spokesman. “In the circumstances, His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona ORTT, SC, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, must defer his intended response from today to Wednesday.” Last week, the Office of the President stated Carmona was “expected” to issue a response yesterday.
“His Excellency is also expected to address issues in the public domain concerning the Office of the President on Monday 26th September, 2016,” the Office of the President said in another media release. The President is expected to respond to issues raised surrounding the spending of tax-payers money and hiring practices at the Office of the President.
He stated last week Friday that he would be responding yesterday to “issues in the public domain”. In his Republic Day address to the nation, Carmona slammed the media saying that newspapers were becoming “garbage dumps” and also called into question the conduct of online social media practitioners.
He also hit out at “armchair journalists” who make allegations without bringing proof.
Correspondence from the Office of the President yesterday reminded the media that due to “limited space”, only two representatives from each media house would be allowed in at tomorrow’s response by the President and that the dress code is a business suit.such as ensuring that all our schools are safe, secure and conform to modern standards that enable them to deliver quality education.
At the same time TTUTA reminds teachers that theirs is a noble profession that requires of them the highest standards of moral and ethical conduct. Their performance, attire, conduct and behaviour are and should be under constant scrutiny by the national community and they must always be mindful of this.
