Ex-soldiers charged

The ex-soldiers were arrested last week Wednesday hours after a family in South Trinidad was terrorised with one man being shot and an attempt made to burn down the family’s house.

The two were arrested after police intercepted their SUV along the North-bound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway near the Divali Nagar site. In the vehicle were a cache of weapons including an UZI machinegun.

Following the arrests, Ag Commissioner of Police Harold Phillip mandated a team of Port-of-Spain detectives led by ASP Ajith Persad to investigate. Officers led by ASP Persad included Sgt Andy Mohammed and PCs Balkissoon and Khan searched the homes of the two ex-soldiers at Piarco and Diego Martin.”
