Tyro president pleads for outstanding $$
Celestine is claiming that under the sponsorship arrangement, Sancho agreed to assist financially with the Tyro Sports Club’s cricket, football and all fours tournaments in 2015.
Celestine said Sancho agreed to contribute a total of $180,000. The former Minister of Sport made two cash payments totalling $110,000, but still owes $70,000 for the Partnership- sponsored Tyro Sports Club Four-Table All Fours competition which ended in November 2015.
Celestine says he has made efforts to contact Sancho through text messages and phone calls concerning the matter but attempts proved futile.
A pre-action protocol letter written by Celestine’s attorney to Sancho on July 7 2016 stated, “you are now called upon to pay to our client the aformentioned sum of Seventy Thousand Dollars ($70,000) within Twenty-Eight days from the date hereof and/or provide written notification within said Twenty-Eight (28) days whether you intend to settle our Client’s claim, failing which we have firm instructions to immediately commence legal proceedings forthwith without further notice which would include a claim for interest and legal costs.” In response Sancho’s attorney on July 19 2016 stated, “I write to inform you that I am in the process of taking instructions with respect to the facts and allegations that have been made in your letter and I shall provide you with a substantive reply to same within the next 28 days.” On September 6 2016, Celestine’s attorney responded by stating, “Reference is been made to your letter dated the 19th day of July, 2016 to which we await a response.” To date there has been no further response by Sancho’s attorney.
