The Senate sitting was the first for new Rural Development and Local Government Minister Kazim Hosein, as he took his oath as a government senator. Hosein took his new spot on the Government’s front bench and his first act as a Senator was to lay three papers associated with his ministry.
Hosein replaced Khan in this post on October 31, when Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley reshuffled the Cabinet.
As he was sworn in as a senator, Senate President Christine Kangaloo also noted the revocation of the senatorial appointment of Sara Budhu, who made way for Hosein to enter the Senate
