TT cyclist Lester hospitalised after training accident

Lester was going around a corner when a car coming from the opposite direction struck Lester and the cyclist was thrown off her bike.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and assisted before a report was made at the Erin Police Station.

Lester, 19, received bruises to her face, neck and legs and will require surgery for a dislocated hip.

The group of cyclists training with Lester included Olympic cyclist Njisane Phillip.

At 6 pm yesterday, Lester’s mother Mary Layne said, “right now the doctors still working on her.

She has a dislocated hip so they have to do a surgery on her, but no broken bones otherwise.

We still awaiting the results from the CAT (Computerised Tomography) scan.

That’s all they told us so far.

They have sedated her because she will be in a lot of pain.”
