Cops probe theft of casket valued $30,000

A casket valued $30,000 has been stolen from Clarke and Battoo Funeral Home at Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain. Reports revealed that around 2.30 pm, an official of the funeral home made a check and noticed the casket missing. A report was made to the Port-of-Spain CID and Detective Rennie Grant carried out enquiries. Employees of the funeral home were questioned yesterday, and police investigators say an arrest is imminent. A senior employee of the funeral home confirmed the larceny of the casket late yesterday, but said he had no comment to make. Fingerprint experts will return to the funeral home today to check for prints.
