Tree terror in Mt Hope

An overgrown tree, infested with woodlice and on the brink of falling, is causing great distress for the residents of the Mt Hope Road, Mt Hope area. Resident Giselle Ollivierre told the People’s Hotline yesterday that the tree is located next to a TTEC pole which holds many high tension wires. She is fearful that if the tree falls, extensive damage could be done to surrounding houses. She stated that she has been calling the electricity commission to cut the branches, but no one has responded.

Tired of waiting for a response from the commission, Olliviere contacted the Regional Corporation in an effort to get them to cut down the tree. However, she was told that the tree could only be cut if TTEC cleared the branches surrounding the high tension wires. “It’s all back to square one now. It is coming closer to Christmas and this situation is very stressful because I do not know when this tree will fall,” she said. Contacted yesterday, TTEC gave the assurance that someone would be sent to the area to cut the branches of the tree by next week.
