Man perishes in Belmont fire

A report was made to the Belmont police at 9.11 pm, that a house was on fire. Fire tenders responded and firemen doused the flames. As firemen were examining the house, the came upon the charred remains of Langley in the kitchen.

A District Medical Officer was summoned and ordered the body removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James for a post mortem examination.

Newsday was told that no autopsy was done yesterday as no relative turned up at the Centre to formally identify the body as required by law before an examination could be done. Investigations are ongoing.
