Khan, Daniel to feature at Single Wicket tourney

The Ultimate Allrounder Cricket Challenge will be a day/ night competition from 4-10 pm.

Allrounders from PowerGen, Queen’s Park, Merry Boys, Alescon Comets and two Tobago clubs will battle each other in three groups of four with the group winners contesting the semi-finals and, subsequently, the grand final.

The tournament winners pockets S15,000 and the losing finalists $5,000.

Other incentives are available for allrounders and fieldsmen who are selected from the top cricket clubs in Tobago. The major sponsors of Ultimate Allrounder Cricket Challenge 2017 are National Lotteries Control Board, Bmobile, First Citizens and THA (Tobago House of Assembly).

Here is a look at two of the expected participants - Imran Khan and Marcus Daniel.

IMRAN KHAN Introduced to the sport by his father, Imran Khan picked up a bat when he was just eight years old. A right-handed bat and leg break bowler, Khan has played regularly for Trinidad and Tobago in First Class cricket. He has also worn national colours in the regional T20 and ODI tournaments.

Khan has had the distinction of being top scorer and best bowler in an innings on a few occasions which attest to his all-round cricket skill. Khan debuted in single wicket cricket a few years ago and will return to the competition full of form and strategy for a more successful run in the competition on Saturday.

MARCUS DANIEL Marcus Daniel, who is a fivetime Tobago Cricketer of the Year, is a right arm all-rounder who bowls medium-pace.

Daniel also has awards for “best bowling performance in a match”, “most wickets for the season” and “most runs in an innings”.

Daniel has a deep passion for sport and for cricket in particular.

He has competed in the tournament in previous years and plays well in the single-wicket format.
